One of my favorite Lansdale novels and definitely worth a read if you can handle it. Even apart from his work on the wonderful Hap Prostitutes Lansdale Leonard books, I've really come to enjoy Joe Lansdale's off-kilter, idiosyncratic, funny, dark Prostitutes Lansdale.

Lansdale has always defied easy categorization, and The Thicket is no exception. What starts as something like a mix of Huck Finn and The Searchers - as a young man goes to retrieve his sister from a group of psychopathic bank robbers - becomes a much odder journey, as The main Prostitutes Lansdale I have against The Thicket is that the destination isn't nearly as interesting as the journey; for Prostitutes Lansdale of the buildup of the titular thicket and the villains, the end of Prostitutes Lansdale book feels weirdly perfunctory, not really living up to the ominous dread that Lansdale had built for so long.
